Cake Poker Offering Irish Poker Open Satellite Packages

Cake Poker Review

Race for the Rake invites online poker players to sign up for popular poker room Cake Poker using a specific cake poker bonus code. Upon creating their account, Cake Poker room players will start their new cake poker experience with a pretty decent 100% Bonus match that caps out at $500.
Once you've signed up -using the cake poker rake race bonus code- provided by Race for a Seat they can sign up on the Race for a Seat home page and begin their own rake race. After that is completed Race for a Seat staff members will calculate the poker rake earned by each player, a leaderboard is provided on the site, and updated daily.

So what's the point you say...

Well I've talked to the owner of Race for a Seat about this race raking tournament, and actually the stakes are quite high.

Each month, the player at the top of the list, the one that really grinds it out and puts in his time at the poker table will win a seat at the BIG BANG.

Still confused I know, but I shall come to the point. The BIG BANG is an exciting, and extremely exclusive 9 man (or woman) sit n go, paying the top place finisher a seat in his/her favorite major poker event. Now there is a 10k cap on that prize, but c'mon, you can play the WSOP main event for 10k, what more were you hoping for.

If you're not familiar with Cake Poker check you can check out the Rake Race Cake Poker Review.

Poker Wisdom, the Rules, and Reasons

It is imperative when playing a game of poker that you have some sense of the rules. In fact, even the rules that are let's say not quite as important as the others, the smaller rules that no one really knows of or follows can save you a few chips in a poker game.

For instance, if you've ever played at a casino, you probably know what a string raise at a holdem table is. You also likely know that if your opponent should cross that virtual or actual line on a poker table with his chips, making the call, and then with his other hand, he brings out more chips, that's a call. It's not a raise, the raise he tried to make is invalid, and we chasers, well we can see the next card without paying the raise hit our flush for free, and win the hand.

A definitely advantageous reason to know your poker rules. During last years World Series of Poker a rule was made on the fly, this rule was a misinterpretation of another rule, but as rules made in the WSOP often are, it is now set in stone and has been put into use in poker rooms around the world. It's the show one show all Texas Holdem rule.

The rule 'show one show all' was originally made to be a tournament rule, if you show one player in a tournament your hand, you must show all players, this way every player in the tournament has the same chance to judge your play, build their knowledge of you and of course beat you in the end.

The rule was misinterpreted last year though, when a WSOP player showed one of his cards, and not the other. The ruling was made in the 'show one show all case' and the player was made to show the second card. I myself have recently been made to show the second card due to the misunderstanding of this rule.

If I'd had a better handle on up to date poker rules, I'd have realized this and other incredulous Texas Holdem rules was actually written into law as far as the world of professional poker goes.

Many many poker games are spin offs of seven card stud, so when you set off to learn your poker rules, though NL is the most popular game, you really do want to learn 7 Card Stud Rules

So while brushing up on my knowledge of Texas holdem rules, and learning Stud rules, I found not only those rules on a poker site, but rules for a couple other popular online poker games. Mixed poker games have really become popular at the little club where I play. I want to play, but I just haven't learned all the ins and outs of so many of these little games.

At a mixed game, if you can name it and it's rules, cards in the air! So half the fun here is naming a game no one has ever heard of. Or at least a game that not everyone is real good at, So I checked out Omaha 8/b Rules as well, and what do you know, I picked up a few checks.

Online Gambling Bonuses At Casino Bonus Pages

Casino Bonus Pages offers a comprehensive, searchable database for not only Casino Bonuses, but other online gambling venues as well, including Poker, Bingo and Sportsbook sites. All Bonus information is updated regularly for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Visit the Casino Bonus page for a Top-10 list of online casino bonuses. The searchable database is categorized by online casino, software developer, maximum bonus amount, bonus percentage (in regards to deposit amount), wagering requirements, bonus type (instant, cashable, etc.), US player acceptance and more. More than 100 online casino bonuses are available.

Poker Bonuses can be found for a dozen of the most frequented online poker rooms, including PokerStars, Bodog and PartyPoker. These online poker room bonuses are categorized by poker room, network, maximum bonus amount, bonus percentage, wagering requirements and US player acceptance.

Bingo Bonuses are also available, categorized in much the same way - online bingo site, software, max bonus, bonus percentage, wagering requirements and US player acceptance. The Bingo Bonus section currently offers a small list of online bingo halls, including Bingo Liner, Bingo Cafe, Foxy Bingo and a few others, but seems to be steadily growing.

Punters will find an assortment of Sportsbook Bonuses from a variety of online sports betting operations, like Bodog Sports, Sportbet and Linesmaker. These bonuses are categorized by online sportsbook, max bonus, bonus percentage, wagering requirements, bonus type and US player acceptance.

Simple navigation, user-friendly searchability and the compilation of comprehensive data gets a big thumbs-up for this online gambling bonus guide. Visitors will also find a detailed review of each online casino, poker room, bingo hall and sportsbook, available by clicking the 'review' option to the right of each listed bonus.

Each review gives a full description of the short-hand tables used to depict and sort online gambling bonuses. For example, if a Wagering Requirement (listed as "WR") is marked "25xB", the review will give more complete details as to wagering requirements, as well as definitions (B = Bonus, D = Deposit, etc.) Each reviews offers a 'Notes' section as well to provide any extra details a player may wish to know before signing up a new player account at any of these online gambling sites.

Going a step further, with casino bonuses in particular, the reviews will provide necessary information of what games may or may not count towards releasing the bonus. Blackjack, for instance, isn't always considered a part of meeting wagering requirements - Casino Bonus Pages has gone that extra step to let you know. The online gambling bonus guide even reveals the lowest House Advantage (listed as "HA") game that can be played counting towards the bonus release.

Happy Bonus Hunting! :)

Commodore Online Casino's website says that the online casino is the "Best Internet Casino Gambling Site on the Web".

Super Slots games with pretty cool bonus rounds are supposed to be next up on offer over there at commodore. I don't know yet if it's the best out of all the online casinos in the world, but it's pretty decent, and hey, I won 10 bux while writing this ;)

Benefitting from Poker Loyalty Programs

Written by Kelli Smithgall

The main premise of a Online Poker or Casino Loyalty Program is to make players feel they made a good choice in their particular poker site. As far as Poker Loyalty Programs, there is a vast majority of different ones in the world of online poker. Loyalty programs are set up in online poker rooms as a way of giving players back portions of the money they have spent; some programs you sign up for and some are automatic enrollment.

The following are different types of Poker Loyalty Programs:

* Poker Rakeback Programs

* Raffles - Lotteries

* Frequent Player Points

* Special-Hand Bonuses

* Reload Bonuses

* One-Off Promotions

* Bad Beat Jackpots

* Pay-for-Play Offers

* Refer-a-Friend Bonuses

Rake-Back Programs

Many poker rooms do not openly advertise rakebacks or proposition player deals. Another way however to obtain this deal is to visit a rakeback website. Highly reputable online poker rooms will advertise and offer to their players these loyalty programs. Usually once a month a percentage of a player’s money they used will be given back to them.

For low stake players, the rake is low and not much is received back. The player will find it harder to climb the rakeback system in order to earn higher percentages.

High stake players receive plentiful rakeback because they can pay up to thousands of dollars each month so the rakeback makes great bankroll.

Raffles/Lotteries

Raffles and Lottery programs are luck of the draw promotions and can be awarded to players off of cash or tournament entries. Some are free entry and others may be part of a players contributing rake.

Frequent Player Points Programs

This program is similar to a rake that is contributed by a player, but they earn points. Points may be redeemed in a poker room’s points shop, used for buy-ins to tournaments or converted into cash. Programs are often run by levels where each level means a higher gathering of points per hand and its run for a certain time period. This has an effect on the amount of points the player will earn in the future.

Special-Hand Bonuses

This is a great program for low stakes players who want a little more kick to their poker game. The program award players prizes when they hold certain hands like high pairs or different straight flushes.

Reload Bonuses

Reload Bonuses are given so players will be loyal to a poker site. The bonuses occur as a fixed sum or a percentage of the players deposited amount when a players redeposit money to a poker site. These bonuses are either automatically awarded or awarded as a part of a player’s point’s promotion. Winning players who do not have to reload usually do not utilize this bonus program.

One-off Promotions

A One-off Promotion is a promotion that occurs only one time. Say you are a player at a certain poker site, and then you are given one free entry in a freeroll qualification to win an entry into a highstakes tournament like “Aussie Millions” or “Absolute Dream Package”.

Bad Beat Jackpots

Qualifications for Bad Beat Jackpots vary from poker site to poker site. It may include a minimum hand rank required in order to be considered a bad beat or a stake level. Sometimes the Jackpot is distributed among other players in the game. Most of the time the winning Bad Beat hand is a hand of at least a full house with jacks, queens and king or both hole cards (cards dealt to each player face down at the beginning of a hand).

Payouts are different depending on the poker site. The losing hand usually receives about 50% of the Jackpot sum and then 40% is shared between the winning hand and the other players in the game. The next jackpot prize gets the remaining 10% to get it started.

Low stakes players benefit from these jackpots because they do not have to put too much money in to play a “losing” hand and win a large payout. Whereas it may not be that beneficial to high stake players to lose a hand in order to receive the jackpot.

Pay-for-Play Offers

Pay-for-Play Offers allow players to begin a new table or having their rake reduced while playing at a full table. It’s based on a fixed number of hours to play per month with an hourly or per hand payment. Pay-for-play offers are great for all players, no matter what game or limit they compete at. The downside is that the amount a player can earn is usually quite low, and it can be boring to sit and wait for people to join your table.

Refer-a-Friend Bonus

The Refer-a-Friend Bonus is exactly that, you refer a friend to a poker site and after that player signs up and deposits money to play, you get a bonus.

The following are a few Poker Sites offering some of the best Poker Loyalty Programs

* Absolute Poker

* Full Tilt Poker

* Party Poker

* Ultimate Bet

* Doyles Room

* Everest Poker

JuJungle Poker

* CelebPoker

* Ladbrokes Poker

AnAnd my personal favorite; Bodog Poker

The important factor in finding a good Loyalty Program at a poker site is to do your homework and compare different poker site loyalty programs before you sign up. Figuring out which sites would be more conducive for adding that extra playing benefit for playing at their site will make your poker playing all that more enjoyable and profitable.

Free Online Poker: Real Cash/Prizes, No Deposits

Since the UIGEA was enacted in October, 2006, many US players are seeking a new, legal way to play poker for more than just fun. Several online poker rooms have opened their doors, offering real cash and/or prizes for tournament player and leaderboards, without the players ever depositing a penny.

Among these sites are NLOP, Ujogo, Prizewagon, and NoPayPoker.

Each of these online poker rooms turns a profit by relying on sponsorship advertising. That profit is increased if players click the advertising banners and make use of the sponsor by signing up for something or making a purchase, but either way, the free online poker room still earns a profit. The more profit the online poker room earns, the more they are able to award their players in cash and/or prizes.

Notably, NLOP.com National League of Poker, opened it's virtual doors in June of 2006, before the UIGEA was passed. In October of 2006, the online poker room was already servicing 30,000 members. Their numbers have risen significantly to about 152,000 post-UIGEA.

The free online poker room boasts a monthly profit averaging $125,000 from sponsorships and guarantees a minimum of $25,000 paid out each month in cash and prizes to their tournament winners and top players. The NLOP reportedly mailed out 3,000+ checks ranging from $5 to $500 to their members in October, 2007.

For all of you poker enthusiasts in the US searching for an exciting way to play for legal rewards - and I know there are many - Any of the free online poker rooms above are highly recommended. The quality of play is spectacular, it's perfectly legal and there's absolutely no risk as you'll never be asked to deposit a single penny.

Ultimate Bet - Big Payoff For Bad Beat

If you've had much experience playing online poker, you've probably heard of something called the Bad Beat Jackpot. If you haven't heard of it, you're playing at the wrong online poker room.

A Bad Beat Jackpot is awarded when a Texas Hold'Em player at a 'Bad Beat' Table achieves a hand of 4-8's or better, but loses to a higher ranking poker hand. Not only does the player with the Bad Beat win, every player at the table gets a cut of the prize.

On October 9th, at 8:58am ET, Ultimate Bet online poker player 'DADDYHOUSE' did just that. Losing a hand of 4-8's to his opponents 4-Q's, DADDYHOUSE released the largest Bad Beat Jackpot prize Ultimate Bet has ever seen - $234,812.04.

DADDYHOUSE was immediately rewarded $76,313.92, while his winning opponent was granted $38,156.95. Each player at the 'Bad Beat' table was also awarded a generous $1,603.13. To top it all off, the online poker room also awards any player at any Bad Beat Table currently playing the same online poker game with the same stakes. For this reason, 42 other players also received a chunk of the jackpot, $603.13 each.

The Bad Beat Jackpot is divided as follows: 25% to the next Bad Beat Jackpot - 10% To Administrative fees - 65% to the winners. Of the 65%, half goes to the Bad Beat player, 1/4th to the winner of the Bad Beat hand, and the remainder divided amongst other qualifying players.

What have we learned from this? Well, if you play online poker at Ultimate Bet, you should be playing a 'Bad Beat' Table (marked in red in the Lobby). If not, maybe you should consider joining Ultimate Bet or another online poker room that offers an enormous prize for losing such a good hand ;)

Members of PaddyPower Poker are gearing up to take down the Irish Poker Open, with the 5-year prize package worth approximately $43,000, not including the $8,500 package they'll already have received for winning the online poker room's qualifier.

Last year's PaddyPower Poker qualifier winner, Thomas Finneran, skillfully carved his way through the crowd of 708 participants to finish 7th place, taking home €75,000 for his efforts.

Among the 708 entries to the Irish Poker Open were Phil Laak, Dan Harrington, Mike Sexton, Jennifer Tilly, Andy Black, Carlos Mortensen and Antonio Esfandiari. The final heads-up action came down to Rolande De Wolfe, who was eventually bested by Marty Smyth to pocket a 1st place prize pool of €650,000.

History of PKR Poker

PKR Poker began in January of 2006, announcing their intentions to revolutionize the world of Internet Poker. Poker enthusiasts were told of the extreme graphical enhancement PKR would deliver and the never before seen features being implemented into the software.

A few short months later, in April 2006, PKR declared the presentation of their 3D poker web site, not yet active, but well on it's way. With the help of Spirit Design, new graphics and themes were implemented, assisting in PKR's inevitable top-rated leap into the virtual poker scene. Spirit Design was responsible for the now famous PKR logo - a sleek spade symbol with the strap-line 'Lets Play'.

Only a month later, on May 23, 2006, PKR got the go ahead from the Alderney Gambling Control Commission, presenting the online poker room with a full e-gaming license. This milestone not only assured poker players they would receive the utmost security, player protection and fair gaming - it also paved the way for PKR Poker's highly anticipated launch, scheduled for June. If you're ready to play at PKR, Download PKR now.

Beta testing of PKR Poker was made available only 2 days after licensing was granted, allowing some lucky poker enthusiasts a sneak preview at what would later become one of the most popular poker rooms on the Internet to date. The beta testing announcement received much more attention than expected, with thousands of players wishing to get in on the action.

The launch, though delayed to August, was a phenomenal success, with a rapidly growing player base from day one. No other online poker room has seen such an incredible rate of traffic in such a short period of time - at least not without the implementation of a shared player base, as many of the most trafficked online poker rooms utilize these days. With the launch came the offering of a PKR Bonus Code, which gives players options to select from different bonuses.

By January of 2007, a mere 7 months after launch, PKR had already broken into the top 5 of best online poker rooms, as declared by specialist online gambling group, Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC).

August 17, 2007 marked the one-year anniversary of PKR 3D Poker. In less than 12 months, the online poker room had grown so vast, they had already acquired nearly one-million registered players, recording more than twelve-million visits. PKR attributes their sensational success to the innovative 3D platform, a stellar marketing campaign and simple word of mouth.

By the end of their first year, PKR Poker was averaging 7,500 players logged on at peak hours, with a total of $245-million in wagers placed throughout the year. Perhaps the most impressive numbers, as far as PKR poker players are concerned, is the total amount of tournament prize money won in their first year of operation - a staggering $32,119,224.53.

If you'd like to learn more about the PKR software, check out this full PKR Review.

Tombstone, the Poker Revival

Tombstone is a town filled with history and myth. Characters shrouded in history, western lure and memorable stories, thrived in life in Tombstone, Arizona.

According to the city, there is nothing on the books to explain the drop in poker popularity in the city. People like Doc Holliday played daily there at one time. Now there is a movement to revive it.

"Tombstone was a Las Vegas before there was a Las Vegas," says Harold Lee with the Arizona Card League. "Tombstone, as far as I can tell, is the home of poker in this country in a way." The group is driven and enthusiastic about bringing the revival back to the town. "We think that not only does poker belong there, but that poker can do a lot to help that community revive itself," Lee says. The Arizona Card League wants to hold weekend poker expeditions in town. A portion of the money will go towards repairing the old city hall.

It will be an additional way to draw visitors to town. "They could sit around, play cards like Doc Holliday and stuff," says Tombstone resident Stephanie Hamblin. The city says it can't find any law on its books saying poker ever became illegal. "I think it's the Old West and they need to have stuff like that," Hamblin says.

Teens Find a New Job – Online Gambling

While many high school and college students are spending their summer days and weekends mowing lawns, babysitting, or working at their local fast food chain, a growing number of teens are spending hours a day at the computer playing online games…poker games that is.

Young talents such as Chris Benton, 19, are showing off their skills on online poker sites and earning much more then minimum wage. Benton, a Sonoma State University sophomore, claims he earns an average of $40 - $50 an hour, which is a far cry from his previous earnings, which he made while waiting tables.

While some young people still view online poker as just a means of entertainment, many are starting to see real money to be made using skill, psychology, talent, and patience. And many do not wish to be called “gamblers” as they are not using luck to make the win, but instead are using strategic thinking.

Due to the worries of possible addiction and financial struggles that could come with online gambling, the Federal law has a ban on U.S. based online gambling as it is not as easy to monitor who is behind the computer, as it is to identify an under age gambler at a land based casino.

Not only has the Federal law placed bans on U.S. based online gambling, but they have also forbid banks from transferring funds to gambling sites. But just as these young players have learned the ropes of poker, they have learned how to get around the system.

They simply do their gambling on offshore sites and purchase the popular debit gift cards such as MasterCard and Visa which can be used anywhere, including offshore online casinos and some small financial institutions that does business with them.

But still, teens like Benton insist he isn’t addicted and that if played properly, with a level head, you can earn much more then working in a restaurant and give yourself a good jump start in life. In fact, he has a four-year plan that involves saving a portion of his winnings to help launch his career in either Business or Casino Management.

Is this an ever-growing addiction problem among our young people or a savvy way to earn some extra money for college expenses? I guess time will tell as it seems that more and more teens are beginning their journey into online gambling.

Youngest Winner in WSOP History

Annette Obrestad, the soon to be 19 year old Norwegian, is not your typical girl. While other 19-year-old girls are doing…well, what most 19 year olds will do, Miss Obrestad is taking the poker world by storm.

Annette_15, as she is famously known by in the online circuit, has taken home the $1 million pound first prize at the WSOP in London’s Leicester Square. To win the top prize, Obrestad beat 22 year old John Tabatabai’s two pairs with her three sevens.

As the newest and youngest winner in World Series of Poker history, Obrestad is quoted saying, “I never expected to win. I’m speechless.” And she should be. After all, this was her first World Series and just last month she earned a winning of $500,000 in an online tournament. And I imagine that more doors will open to Obrestad in a few years when she can compete in the U.S., which has the legal minimum age set to 21.

And to top off everything else happening for this amazing young talent, the largest Internet gambling site in the U.K., Betfair.com, has offered Obrestad a five-year endorsement contract. Obrestad has accepted the deal, and although specific terms are not being disclosed to the public for privacy concerns, this does guarantee her a spot on the tournament circuit.

With the gambling industry being worth an incredible $12 billion annually, there is a lot more out there for Obrestad to grab. I can assure you this is not the last with will be hearing from Annette Obrestad, a.k.a. Annette_15.

Poker Bankroll Management

To be a successful poker player you have to be able to exercise good bankroll management skills. If you are unable to manage your poker money correctly, you will never be able to become a long term winning poker player. Even if you were the best player in the world, it would be impossible to be able to make money from poker if you did not use good money management skills.

Bankroll management basically involves playing at a certain levels and buy-ins to help prevent yourself from going broke at the poker table. You have to set yourself limits to where you can play poker due to the variance found in every poker game. There are always going to be times where you have runs of bad luck that you cannot control, and you will lose money due to the bad runs of cards, and not necessarily due to any bad play. Therefore there is no use in putting all of your poker money on one table, because there is a good chance that you will lose it all and not be able to continue playing poker.

As a result, it is important that we have a large enough bankroll to absorb the effects of this variance so that we can continue to play poker even when we have very bad runs of cards. In addition, we don’t want to go over the top and play at micro levels with a huge bankroll because it is unlikely that we will go broke, and we want to give ourselves the opportunity to win a decent amount of money from our poker sessions. Therefore there are useful rules that you can follow to make sure that you give yourself the best opportunity to make money from poker without going broke.

In cash games, you should never put more than 5% of your bankroll onto the table at any time. So if you want to play in $1/$2 cash games and intend to buy in for the full amount, you should have a bankroll of at least $4000. This will then give you enough room to take a few bad beats and losing sessions, but still be able to continue playing poker without the fear of going broke. Another way of looking at the 5% rule is to remember that you should have 20 times the maximum buy in of the level you wish to play at in your bankroll. Most online poker rooms offer a wide range of limits, so it is perfectly possible to keep your bankroll under control, no matter how large or small it might be. Alternatively, if you are a tournament player, you should have around 40 buy-ins minimum for the level of tournaments you wish to play in.

It is important to remember however that bankroll management is only useful if you intend to play poker regularly, and that you are a winning player. If you only play poker casually then it is not as important to have a set bankroll, but to just be careful with your money instead. In addition, bankroll management will have no effect on your moneymaking endeavours if you are a losing poker player. However, bankroll management will slow down the time it takes for you to lose the money if you are used to playing at higher stakes.

Conspiracy to murder over Poker Debt

Two men from Colorado were charged with conspiracy to commit murder for allegedly plotting to use deadly rattlesnakes in an attempt to collect a significant poker debt. According to local law enforcement, Herbert Paul Beck and Christopher Lee were evidently attempting to murder Matthew Sowash, the owner of the Amateur Poker Tour, due to a $60,000 debt.

Investigators on the case were reported as saying Steelman confessed about the plot against Sowash. In the confession he revealed that it was Beck who suggested the use of the snakes in order to kill the would-be victim. It was also disclosed that some discuss was had over the kidnapping of Sowah's children as bargaining chips in retrieving the money. On his part, Beck said that Sowash repeatedly refused to pay him the debt money. The money has been an object of dispute for quite a bit of time. No mention of interest regarding the amount.

The two would be murders finally chose a plan to construct a wooden box then to put the snakes in it. The intention was to make Sowash place his legs in the box with the lid on, not allowing him to pull them out. This creative plan was not carried out. The sensible businessman contacted the Colorado Bureau of Investigation in response to numerous threating emails he had received from the suspects. Beck and Steelman are both well known to police in connection with previous offenses.

Ontario Underaged Gambling

A New report suggests one third of teenagers age 13-15 gamble. This interview show's teenagers cutting class and writing IOU's to gamble.

Some say they're just gambling for change, others say they're gambling for big money. The study in question was held up by John Kelly. Who says that 40% of teens that do gamble play poker, and more often than not the majority of them gamble online.

A presentation called House of Cards is being presented to students in effort to teach them that 'the house always wins' .. but as a mom and a gambler.. are they confused? If the kids are playing poker, and they're playing poker online, they're not betting against the house.. If we're going to teach children the dangers of gambling, shouldn't we be teaching them correctly?
